Welcome to another week on the water.

First up, my thanks to Kim, who did an absolutely awesome healthy BBQ. His chicken and salmon recipies are now highly sought after. My appreciation also to those who came along to participate and help out. It was a nice way to finish the day and we obtained important funding from the Dept of Veterans Affairs as a result.

We also got out sailing, with near perfect conditions. For the first time in several months we didn't have the river to ourselves, as all the clubs came out to play. There must have been a hundred yachts out on the water. That all adds to the fun as we manoeuvred through and played dodgem cars the fleets.

All was going very well until on the way home we put Shiraz on a sand bank, just off the Applecross clocktower. We tried every trick in the book to clear the bank, including getting in the water and pushing (my thanks to Kristen who helped me try and fail to push a 5 tonne object through sand). Eventually we gave up and ordered a tow. Embarrassingly we crashed infront of the entire fleet, with every boat on the river sailing within 20 metres of us for 40 minutes. We even stopped the race for a short period during our rescue and tow out. So there you go, sailing is always unpredictable, and just when you think everything is smooth, it throws a curve ball.

I have attached some photos from the day, this time Kristen was the photographer. There are some of me and Kristen on the helm, the yachts around us and the tow of shame !!.
